I decided to use ChatGPT to show to 1st year students how quickly technology is evolving. An excerpt of my talk at CMR Institute Of Technology last month:

When CMR University invited me to speak with you, I decided to use Artificial Intelligence to create my speech.
Here is the first question I asked the AI prompt: “Help me with some topics to discuss with young college students”
In under 5 seconds, the AI returned this list:
• The job market and finding a job that matches their skills and interests
• The importance of networking and building professional connections
• Managing their finances and creating a budget
• Continuing their education with graduate school or professional development courses
• Balancing their personal and professional lives, including maintaining a healthy work-life balance
• The challenges and opportunities of entering the workforce in their chosen field
• The value of internships and other experiential learning opportunities
• Building a strong foundation for their career and setting goals for their future professional development.
Next, I typed “Elaborate on item #2” & I’ve used the response to that query (with some edits) below.
I don’t know if I can emphasis enough on how ground-breaking and earth shattering this is.
This was not possible as recently as 6 months ago.
You can write full articles, full books, create song lyrics and music, paintings and edit photographs using AI.
How many jobs and how many industries have changed forever, thanks to technology?
Ok, my intention is not to scare you, but to excite you.
You are still in college and hence best placed to take advantage of the newer technologies that are coming of age just as you yourselves come of age!

Notice how legit that initial list was?
It would take a lot of deep introspection, time and experience for a human to come up with a better list. ChatGPT also expanded on the points I requested in a practical, and conversational tone. I’m stunned is an understatement.
So, yes, I used AI to help me talk about AI.
I’m nothing if not meta.
