Apple’s Microsoft moment is coming along.

Microsoft was the company with the maximum OS lock-in* during the 90s. Think of it as iOS’s consumer lock-in, but MSFT had it on consumer AND enterprise.

With Apple:
On the one hand, you have EU’s regulation forcing Apple to adhere to USB-C ports for iPhones.

Then, Epic’s court win to allow off-store transactions (Apple’s response of 27% commission on click-through is a case study in monopoly habits, but I digress)

Now, Apple’s relaxing the requirement that all iOS browsers only use the Webkit (Chromium or Gecko were banned).

Cannot wait to see how 3rd party App Stores get setup on iOS. That will be a treat to watch.

* DOJ stepped in and demanded MSFT unbundle the browser (IE) from the OS, amongst other things.
