“Manali to Leh Road Trip” – words that evoke amazement, awe & (usually) incredulousness.

It’s tough enough driving or motorbiking along this scenic Himalayan route, but three of us crazy ones went on the bicycle ride of our lives some weeks ago!

Including a warm-up ride from Manali to Solang, my buddies AshwinAniruddha and I rode for 10 days!

For the data nerds:
500 kms over 10 days
8500 meters of elevation
Burning 2500-3500 calories/day
6-7 hours on the saddle each day
Riding at negative 0.8 degrees C and at +27 degrees C
Camping in the Himalayan wilderness
Riding through Dust, pebbles, rain and hailstones

The quantified self
As a believer in the quantified self movement, I believe the more data I have, the better I can take care of my body.
I’ve always used a Garmin watch, a cycle computer, and a chest HR monitor. For this trip, we also added on Ultrahuman‘s CGM sensor to track glucose levels. It was the first time I was measuring something other than my HR and I’ve got to say, I was pleasently surprised. Thanks for your support UH!

Any lessons for the entrepreneur in me?
Being at the top of you game in any field (cycling, being a founder, etc) means being both physically and mentally fit. Being a nerd means you want all the data you can get.

Data leads to focus. Focus leads to performance.

Would I go on another crazy ride again? Let’s just say, it’s addictive!
