I was recently trying to withdraw cash from an ATM and saw the thingy after it crashed.
The crahsed and just showed the Windows Desktop (2000?).
Had anyone the evil streak in them (and free time), what was to stop any passer-by to delete most of the files or even muck around on the desktop with the on-screen keyboard?

And the funny thing, I spoke with someone in the store about it and their answer was “yes, it’s been down”.

ATM, crashed, downed, security risk, diebold, unreliable, american voting machines, e-vote.
All the right stupid words in one sentence. There, I did it.

Wired says most ATM machines will run some version of Windows by 2005. Hope not.
