I just played around with MapLib.Net a cool new mashup that uses Google Maps for some really innovative work.
It allows you to upload any photo to the service and use that photo as the “map” or background for a new Google Map. So you can zoom in/out, add markers (those red balloons) and even add notes. […]

The problem with monetization of stories, tv shows and movies is that they don’t follow the long-tail model. Once the advertisers dry up, the shows are stopped. The movies don’t have sequels and the books/series don’t have a 2nd or 3rd part.
Here is a nice solution to this problem for starved fans such as myself.

I’ve often wondered on how to best train people. Sometimes, even how to best train myself. In a previous post, titled “My coding skills have started to suck” I discussed how my programming skills are deteriorating. I also discussed how not having peers to work with (in school labs or more experienced people sitting in […]

If you live or work in Manhattan and haven’t yet tried the excellent grilled corn at Cafe Habana, you should! It’s delicious, hot off the flame griller and rolled in some amazing homemade crumbly cheese.
Surabhi and I’ve been there atleast 3 times in the last month, ever since Vivek told us about it … […]

The Braidy Tester blog that I just started reading really has a very nice summation of the mentality of a tester.
More than just breaking software, the tester should make sure it has the capabilities the customer needs.
Too often, I either work with employees who are testers but not really focussed on the end product. Rather […]

You never realize you have this problem till you actually have two computers you use on a regular basis.
My current setup includes an IBM X31 laptop connected to a 2nd 15″ LCD monitor and my X41 TabletPC connected to a 2nd 19″ LCD monitor! On the same desk, next to each other!
Often, I am chatting with […]

I recently spoke to my friends about Ted Murphy and have to conclude that Ted (you know, the guy who started PayPerPost for ads on blogs) is working under Paul Allen.
Microsoft does not want to directly fund these guys, but Paul Allen, being founder, old chum of Gates, et al; can work the magic with […]

Because that is truly how awesome this movie is. It’s not a question of “have you” but “how many times have you”.
Lage Raho Munnabhai is funny. It’s serious. It’s a comedy. It’s what comedies used to be.
It’s the kind of movie that makes me feel that there are some more intelligent movie makers out there and […]

So a friend of mine (your typical, American white male … the kind who are caught for “random” checking at airports to make others feel that the randomness is really random) was at a bar on Saturday night and coming back to office on Monday made this comment …
