Many Indians use YouTube as a radio station. They ignore the video and instead just listen to the audio stream. Mostly songs and news.

Audio is the next content frontier in India.

I’ve been speaking with startups involved in audio UGC and PGC and the opportunity to win this space is wide open. While monetisation models are still a WIP, the growth hacks to retain users month on month will differentiate the great startups from the also-rans in the early days.
