Google - the more human approach

Though, definitely not humane.

Has it ever happened to you, at least those of you nerdy/geeky enough …

A friend/relative has a computer-related problem where the question invariable is like …

  • How do I download …

  • Where do I get …
  • How do I use …
  • How do I change …

… you get the idea …!

Where, one of the quickest ways to solve their problem is to yourself perform a google search, and once u agree with the collection of results, pass on the actual google search url to them … and they are very happy with the results.

Irrespective of the fact that for the last 20 minutes you had been asking them to do exactly that
(”Umm, search on google”,  -or- “How about u look it up on a faq”) … they aren’t satisfied till you just had to put in the search term yourself, and copy/paste the url into the chat window for them.

Not pissed off at any of my friends/relatives for this … i am happy they trust me enough to ask me these questions … but just if they realized that
Google is not the question. Google is the answer. Only if they asked it the question.
